After enjoying traditional strawberries and cream, spectators take their seats on the grandstand overlooking Centre Court. The ball-boys and ball-girls are ready in their smart green and purple uniforms. The players’ spotless white outfits contrast pleasingly with the magnificent green of the grass court.
Everything is perfectly organised down to the last detail. The Wimbledon championships, the world’s most prestigious tennis tournament, are about to begin. The event is packed full of traditions that have been upheld for many years. Such as playing on real grass. But playing on a flawless grass court isn’t something every club can afford.
For one thing, it requires a high level of maintenance. Many clubs therefore prefer the ease of our professional artificial grass. It’s a low-maintenance, hard-wearing, weather-resistant and above all, player-friendly substrate. Traditions are wonderful, but we like to go with the times.
